Anne E. DeChant returns to Cleveland's Pride stage
The Entertainment stage at this year's 8th annual Pride Parade and Festival will be rockin.' Anne E. DeChant, formerly of Odd Girl Out, will be taking the solo stage by
storm.
In her solo career DeChant has moved away from the folk sounds of Odd Girl Out and toward a harder-edged rock sound. Her new style allows her powerful vocal skills to take center stage. With honest lyrics, concise melodies and a dynamic stage presence DeChant's show is not to be missed.
DeChant has hinted she may play some old favorites like "Greenhand” and “Swastika of Hate," and some recent songs like "Effort of the Spin” and “I Will See Her," written in the last few months about a friend killed in a car accident.
This will be DeChant's second time performing at Pride. A couple of years ago she performed with the Odd Girl Out girls, but "I've never done it with a full band," she said.
"It'll be a little more like a show."
"I look forward to an event where people can feel a little safer and with their community," said DeChant of the Pride festival.
"I enjoy seeing the world the way it should be, with people being able to be open and easy," she said. “You kind of get the feeling that nothing can stop them at that point."
DeChant was voted Cleveland's favorite vocalist in 1994 by a Cleveland magazine reader's poll. She has also performed as an opener with such noted talents as Sarah McLachlan, Arrested Development, Sheryl Crow, Joan Armatrading, and Melissa Etheridge.
Anne E. DeChant will be performing Saturday June 15 on the Entertainment stage at the Cleveland Pride Festival. This performance is free and open to the public. Don't miss out on what is sure to be one of the most exciting and rewarding performances at the Festival.
